Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse?
The NHTSA has issued 23 recalls affecting the 2014 Chevrolet Traverse, covering airbags, tires, seat belts, electrical modules, fuel gauge software, transmission components, fuel pumps, frame rails, seat frames, and windshield wiper motors. These recalls include multiple air bag campaigns for unsecured side-curtain modules and RRAB diffuser issues, tire replacements for certain Goodyear and Continental tires, and software or module replacements to correct fuel gauge and chassis electronics. All recall repairs identified by GM are performed free of charge at our dealership; you can schedule service with Coggin Chevrolet at the Avenues in Jacksonville, FL.
How do I check if my 2014 Chevrolet Traverse has an open recall?
You can check your VIN on NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to a franchise dealer for a free VIN recall check—this is the fastest way to confirm open recalls. Coggin Chevrolet at the Avenues will check your VIN at no charge and advise next steps; if a recall applies we will complete the repair using OEM parts and factory-trained technicians. If you need assistance, schedule service online or call our service department; we also offer service financing and current service specials.
How much does a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs for the 2014 Chevrolet Traverse are free of charge to the vehicle owner when performed under the GM recall program. Free coverage includes parts, labor, and required software updates or module replacements specified by GM and listed with the NHTSA. If you have concerns about driving to the dealership, ask us about available pick-up arrangements when you schedule service, and check current service specials and financing options.
Can I get my 2014 Chevrolet Traverse recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be completed following manufacturer procedures, and a certified franchise dealership is the safest choice to ensure OEM parts, correct reprogramming, and warranty compliance. Independent shops may not have GM-specific tools, programming access, or the GM parts warranty required for certain recall fixes; Coggin Chevrolet at the Avenues has factory-trained technicians and OEM tooling to perform recall work properly. To protect your vehicle and ensure repairs remain free under the recall program, schedule service with our certified Chevrolet recall team; we also offer service financing and can advise on alternatives if needed.
How long does a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse recall repair take?
Repair times vary by campaign—from quick software updates (typically under an hour) to parts replacements that may take several hours; many common Traverse recall jobs are completed the same day. Our team will provide an estimated turnaround when you arrive or when you schedule service, and we prioritize safety-related recalls such as airbags and fuel-system issues. Coggin Chevrolet at the Avenues serves Jacksonville and nearby communities—if weather or mobility prevents you from driving in, ask about pickup options when booking service.
Does an open recall affect my 2014 Chevrolet Traverse's trade-in or resale value?
Unresolved recalls can reduce buyer confidence and may lower trade-in or resale value because many dealers and private buyers verify NHTSA recall status before purchase. Having recalls completed at a certified Chevrolet dealer like Coggin Chevrolet at the Avenues protects value and provides documented proof that safety-related issues were corrected with OEM parts and factory-trained technicians. To protect value before selling or trading, get recalls resolved and then obtain an appraisal or submit a trade inquiry via our trade-in page.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2014 Chevrolet Traverse recall?
Some recalls—such as defective brakes, lights, or emissions-related issues—can impact vehicle safety inspections, and unresolved safety recalls may complicate registration or inspection in certain states. While not all recalls automatically fail an inspection, addressing manufacturer recalls at a certified dealer protects safety, compliance, and future transferability of the vehicle. If you're concerned about inspections in Jacksonville or surrounding Florida areas, schedule service and our technicians will verify and complete any required recall repairs; ask about our current service specials and service financing.
