8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2017 Chevrolet Express Cargo 3500?
The NHTSA database lists 2 recalls related to Chevrolet Express vehicles that may affect your 2017 Chevrolet Express Cargo 3500. Those recalls involve the battery cable (risk of short-circuit and potential fire) and certain aftermarket tires that may suffer sidewall or belt separation. Details and corrective actions come from NHTSA/GM records and are summarized below; schedule service with our certified technicians to confirm applicability using your VIN.
How do I check if my 2017 Chevrolet Express Cargo 3500 has an open recall?
You can check your VIN at NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to Coggin Chevrolet at the Avenues and we will check for free. Online VIN lookup at NHTSA.gov provides authoritative recall status; our service team will also verify and advise on next steps. To get a dealership confirmation, schedule service and we will run OEM diagnostic checks, confirm recalls, and plan repairs at no charge.
How much does a 2017 Chevrolet Express Cargo 3500 recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are performed free of charge to the vehicle owner. GM-authorized recall remedies — such as removing part of the battery cable anti-rotation tab or replacing affected tires — are covered at no cost when performed through a certified dealer. If you need additional non-recall work, ask about our current service specials and available service financing to help you pay over time.
Can I get my 2017 Chevrolet Express Cargo 3500 recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed by a certified franchise or authorized repair facility to ensure OEM parts and documented compliance; Coggin Chevrolet at the Avenues is your local certified Chevrolet dealer for recall work near Jacksonville, FL. Franchise dealers use factory-trained technicians and OEM parts, which are required for many recall remedies and for accurate documentation with NHTSA and the manufacturer. For safe, guaranteed recall repair and to preserve factory records, schedule service with our trained team; we also offer service financing if needed.
How long does a 2017 Chevrolet Express Cargo 3500 recall repair take?
Repair time varies by recall: many dealer-performed recall fixes take less than a half day, while parts availability can extend that timeframe. The battery cable remedy described in the NHTSA file is typically a short repair (removal of part of the anti-rotation tab) but may require a replacement cable if prior service removed too much material; tires require inspection and possible replacement. To minimize downtime, schedule appointment online and review our service specials for convenient options; we’ll provide an estimated turnaround when you arrive.
Does an open recall affect my 2017 Chevrolet Express Cargo 3500's trade-in or resale value?
Yes — unresolved recalls can reduce buyer confidence and may lower trade-in or resale value for the 2017 Chevrolet Express Cargo 3500. Many dealers and private buyers check NHTSA recall records and may discount or decline vehicles with open safety recalls; getting recalls fixed at a certified dealer protects value and resale appeal. When you’re ready to sell or trade, start with a free recall check and appraisal — visit our trade-in page at sell-your-car-online.htm after you confirm recall repairs.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2017 Chevrolet Express Cargo 3500 recall?
Some states may cite unresolved safety recalls during inspections, particularly if the recall affects required safety systems. While many recalls don’t block registration, ignoring a safety recall for components like tires (risk of sudden air loss) or battery-related short circuits (fire risk) can create inspection or insurance complications. Resolve recalls at Coggin Chevrolet at the Avenues to keep your vehicle safe and inspection-ready; schedule service and ask about service financing if needed.
