Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2022 Chevrolet Trax?
The NHTSA has issued 19 recall records affecting the 2022 Chevrolet Trax covering components such as air bags/SDM software, front lower-control arms (control arm/suspension weld issues), electrical radio chimes, steering column wear, tire placard labels, and seat belt/pretensioner SDM-related issues. These recalls include air bag sensing and Sensing Diagnostic Module (SDM) software updates, inspection and replacement of front lower-control arms if improperly welded, radio software updates to restore audible chimes, steering column assembly inspection/replacement, and corrected tire placard labels. All corrective actions listed by the manufacturer are performed free of charge under the recall program; to confirm your vehicle’s status or to schedule service, contact Coggin Chevrolet at the Avenues.
How do I check if my 2022 Chevrolet Trax has an open recall?
You can check your VIN at NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to a dealer for a free recall VIN check; the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) publishes official recall records used here. Find your 17-character VIN on the driver-side dash or the driver-side door jamb and enter it at NHTSA.gov for immediate results, or call Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 for guidance. You may also visit Coggin Chevrolet at the Avenues in Jacksonville, FL and our service team will run a free VIN recall check and advise next steps — if needed, we can schedule service right away.
How much does a 2022 Chevrolet Trax recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs for the 2022 Chevrolet Trax are performed at no cost to the owner; the OEM covers parts and labor for NHTSA-listed recalls. If a recall repair requires replacement parts or software updates, GM/ Chevrolet will pay for those repairs through the authorized dealer network; Coggin Chevrolet at the Avenues will complete recall work free of charge. If you need other non-recall maintenance at the same time, ask about our service specials or our service financing options so you can get necessary service now and pay later.
Can I get my 2022 Chevrolet Trax recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed by an authorized dealer to ensure use of OEM parts and factory procedures; a certified franchise dealer is the safest and proper choice for recall repairs. Independent shops cannot perform certain manufacturer-authorized recall repairs that require OEM parts, factory diagnostics, or software reflashes without dealer authorization; Coggin Chevrolet at the Avenues has factory-trained technicians and OEM tools to complete recall repairs correctly and for free. If you prefer convenience, call or schedule service online — we’ll confirm your recall status and advise whether a dealer visit is required. We also offer service financing if you need additional, non-recall work.
How long does a 2022 Chevrolet Trax recall repair take?
Repair times vary by recall: software reflashes or label replacement can take less than an hour, while control arm or steering assembly replacements may require longer diagnostics and parts and can take several hours to a day. Coggin Chevrolet at the Avenues will give you an estimated turnaround when you schedule appointment; we prioritize safety recalls and often offer same-day or next-day service when parts are available. If your vehicle requires additional repairs beyond the recall scope, our service advisors will explain options, available service specials, and service financing plans so you can proceed comfortably.
Does an open recall affect my 2022 Chevrolet Trax's trade-in or resale value?
Yes — unresolved recalls can reduce trade-in and resale value because buyers and dealers may view open recalls as safety or compliance issues. Many trade-in appraisals and private buyers check the NHTSA recall status and may lower offers or refuse purchase until recalls are completed; having recalls performed at a certified dealer like Coggin Chevrolet at the Avenues protects your vehicle’s value. To protect resale value, get recalls completed before trading in — start the process with an online appraisal at our trade-in page and schedule service to clear any open recalls.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2022 Chevrolet Trax recall?
Some safety-related open recalls can lead to inspection failures depending on state rules and the recall’s effect on required safety systems; unresolved air bag, seat belt, steering, or suspension recalls can impact inspection results. Because recall work restores compliance and safety, getting manufacturer recall repairs performed at an authorized dealer avoids inspection issues and ensures the repair uses OEM parts and factory procedures. If you’re concerned about a pending state inspection in Jacksonville or nearby Florida communities, contact Coggin Chevrolet at the Avenues and schedule service; we provide free recall checks and can advise about inspection impact and timelines. We also offer service financing for any additional repairs.

This summary is based on NHTSA records and manufacturer notices. If you own a 2022 Chevrolet Trax in Jacksonville, FL or nearby communities, contact Coggin Chevrolet at the Avenues to schedule service — recall repairs are free and should be completed by a certified Chevrolet dealer using OEM parts and factory-trained technicians.
