Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2026 Chevrolet Suburban?
The NHTSA records show 39 related recall entries affecting Suburban model years and systems listed in public reports. These recalls include items affecting the Electronic‑Brake Control Module (EBCM), brakes and vacuum pump, electric power steering (EPS), multiple air bag inflator or control module issues, transfer case software, transmission oil cooler connections, and seat belt assemblies. Because many entries apply to earlier Suburban model years and related GM vehicles, we recommend checking your VIN so we can confirm whether your 2026 Chevrolet Suburban is affected.
How do I check if my 2026 Chevrolet Suburban has an open recall?
Use your VIN to check NHTSA records and manufacturer bulletins for a definitive recall status. You can also bring your VIN to Coggin Chevrolet at the Avenues and our factory‑trained technicians will look up recalls for free and advise next steps. To confirm a service appointment, schedule service online and we will verify open recalls during your visit.
How much does a 2026 Chevrolet Suburban recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are performed at no cost to the owner. All corrective actions issued by GM under recall are covered by the manufacturer and completed free of charge at a certified Chevrolet dealer like Coggin Chevrolet at the Avenues. If additional non‑recall work is requested, ask about current service specials and our service financing options so you can get required work now and pay later.
Can I get my 2026 Chevrolet Suburban recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed by an authorized dealer to ensure OEM parts, manufacturer procedure, and a warrantyable repair. Independent shops may not have manufacturer access to the software updates or replacement parts required for many GM recalls (for example EBCM or SDM reflashes and EPS module replacements). Book a free recall inspection with our factory‑trained technicians by clicking schedule service and bring any recall notices you received.
How long does a 2026 Chevrolet Suburban recall repair take?
Repair time varies by recall but most reprogramming or parts‑replacement repairs are completed in a few hours. Software reflashes (EBCM, SDM, EPS updates) often take under a day; hardware replacements (air bag inflator, control arms, steering assist motor kits) can take longer based on part availability. When you schedule service we will provide a more accurate estimate and options for loaner vehicles or shuttle service where available.
Does an open recall affect my 2026 Chevrolet Suburban's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can reduce buyer confidence and may lower trade‑in or resale offers. Dealers and private buyers often check NHTSA records; having recalls completed at a certified dealer protects resale value and transfers the completed repair history to the vehicle. When you're ready, get a verified appraisal via our online trade tool at sell your car online after recalls are repaired to maximize value.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2026 Chevrolet Suburban recall?
Some recalls involve safety systems that states may consider during inspections, so unresolved recalls can cause inspection issues depending on local rules. Systems such as air bags, brakes, steering assist, or lighting tied to a recall are safety‑critical and could affect inspection outcomes if they fail or trigger warning lights. Bring your vehicle to Coggin Chevrolet at the Avenues for a free recall check and to schedule service so your Suburban stays inspection‑ready.

Defect

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon, and 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle and four-wheel drive. Consequence

Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.

Corrective Action

GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the EBCM, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192261050.
